Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer hailing from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On the 21st October of 2016, she released Pho, her debut EP for the Dreamville Records label. That was the day she first gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox posted her debut music on the internet in 2012. She dropped the single Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. Ari Lennox continued to upload her music on the internet in 2014, including her self-released single Bound. Her music was also featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes, from Sweat It Out, on 21 July 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time, wanted to have her do some Rihanna in reference to Rihanna. The day after Christmas, she revealed that she was signed to Dreamville Records. She appeared in the album collaboration Revenge of the Dreamers II which featured the track Backseat alongside Cozz. In October 21, 2016, she debuted her first EP titled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and also performed as the opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. She also appeared on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus alongside Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox's album debut Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The debut single, Whipped Cream From the album dropped on the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a unreleased music videos. In November, she dropped the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then on November 13 two brand new singles, titled The No One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on the 26th of February in 2019, to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed along with Cole on her Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. The track was supported by an accompanying music video that debuted that was released on February 20, 2019 and surpassed 3 million views via YouTube within one week. In December 2018, she was part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour that featured 6LACK.
